Reptilicus: Music for Tectonics' Listening party

Mengi í samstarfi við dúettinn Reptilicus býður til hlustunarpartýs föstudagskvöldið 15. janúar klukkan 18. Tilefnið er diskur með Reptilicus sem nýverið kom út hjá EMF, Electronic Music Foundation í New York or Toronto. Diskurinn nefnist Music for Tectonics og byggir á þátttöku Reptilicus í Tectonics hátíðinni þar sem þeir hljóðrituðu aðra listamenn - úr efninu skópu þeir ný stykki sem öll bera heitið Re-written. Meðal þeirra listamanna sem þeir vinna með á disknum eru Pauline Oliveros, Christian Wolff, Dean Ferrell, Jesper Pedersen, S.L.Á.T.U.R. og Fengjastrútur.

Reptilicus, samstarfsverkefni Jóhanns Eiríkssonar og Guðmundar Inga Markússonar, hefur starfað síðan 1988 og telst til brautryðjenda tilraunakenndrar raftónlistar á Íslandi. Meðal áhrifavalda sveitarinnar má nefna bresku iðnaðarraftónlistina (industrial), þýska krautrokkið og dadahreyfinguna. Reptilicus hefur staðið að margvíslegum útgáfum hérlendis og erlendis þar sem ólík stílbrigði og þættir mætast í deiglu raftónlistar. Sem stendur vinna þeir að nýrri plötu með þýska tónlistarmanninum Senking.

Viðburðurinn hefst klukkan 18. Aðgangur er ókeypis og öllum heimill.

Welcome to the Listening Party of Reptilicus and Mengi on Friday, January 15th at 6pm where we'll celebrate a new release by the duet Reptilicus.

The CD is the result of Reptilicus’ participation in the Tectonics festival in Reykjavik, organised by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and curated by conductor Ilan Volkov. Reptilicus did various recordings of performances, rehearsals and the environment at the festival which became the basis of their own performance. In the wake of Tectonics, Reptilicus put new pieces together, manipulating and adding to the raw material collected. Among the material used (with permisson) are recordings of the works of Christian Wolff and Pauline Oliveros.

Event starts at 6pm. Free entrance. Everybody welcome.
