Dúettinn Autoduplicity er skipaður bandarísku tónlistarkonunum Rachel Beetz, flautuleikara og Jennifer Bewerse, sellóleikara sem kynntust í San Diego, Kaliforníu, þar sem þær stunduðu báðar doktorsnám í flutningi samtímatónlistar. Á þessum tónleikum er tónlist austurríska tónskáldsins Peter Ablinger (f. 1959) í brennidepli, nokkrum verka hans fyrir flautu, selló og rafhljóð fléttað saman við nýjar útsetningar Rachel Beetz og Jennifer Bewerse á ballöðunni Dame, ne regardez pas eftir franska miðaldatónskáldið Guillaume de Machaut.

Eftir Ablinger hljóma þír þættir úr tónverkaröðinni Instrumente und Rauschen (Hljóðfæri og hávaði): Flöte und Rauschen (Flauta og hávaði), Violoncello und Rauschen (Selló og hávaði) og Piccolo und Rauschen (Pikkolóflauta og hávaði), samin á árabilinu 1996 til 2013. Auk þess verða flutt verk hans Das Wirkliche als Vogestelltes (Hið raunverulega sem ímyndun) fyrir raddir og rafhljóð frá árinu 2012 og verkið Kyrie after Machaut (Kyrie eftir Machaut) sem er elsta verk Ablingers á efnisskránni, frá árinu 1983.

Autoduplicity presents their second concert exploration in Machaut + Rauschen, juxtaposing Guillaume de Machaut's ballade, “Dame, ne regardez pas” with several of Peter Ablinger's Instrumente und Rauschen. Leaping from the simple purity of a single melody to the “everything always” of white noise, Machaut + Rauchen explores the hidden complexity in simple sounds and hidden sounds within masses of complex noise. Listening at these extremes reveals how deceptive the very ideas of simple or complex can be.

Jennifer Bewerse and Rachel Beetz are dedicated to performing contemporary music. As a cellist and flutist, respectively, they regularly perform avant-garde works. Both musicians perform in artist-led ensembles and consider it part of their art form to spearhead new and exciting artistic projects. Rachel and Jennifer created Autoduplicity to explore performance beyond sound-making for highly trained instrumentalists, to explore musical ideas and the bodies that inhabit them, and to find what this exploration might illuminate when done as a duo.
