Textar í gegnum tónlist - Lyrics through music

Á tónleikunum Textar í gegnum tónlist flytur Mikael Máni Ásmundsson lög Bob Dylan fyrir sóló gítar. Hugmyndin af verkefninu er að túlka texta Dylans í gegnum hljóðfærið. Aðferðin sem Mikael notar við að spila lögin er blanda af skrifuðum útsetningnum og spuna. Í skrifuðu pörtunum er markmiðið að ná fram tilfinningunni í textanum en á meðan hann spilar melódíuna er textinn kjarninn í túlkuninni á verkinu og flutningurinn er innblásinn af honum.

Á tónleikunum verður dreift bæklingi sem Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir hannaði með textunum af þeim 8 lögum sem Mikael flytur á tónleikunum. Tónleikagestir fá þannig að stýra upplifun sinni á tónlistinni og geta valið hvort þeir vilji bara hlusta eða hvort að þeir vilja lesa ljóðin sem Dylan skrifaði til að tengjast lögunum á annan hátt.

In the concert Music Through Lyrics, Mikael Máni Ásmundsson performs Bob Dylan’s songs for solo guitar. The idea behind the project is to interpret Bob Dylan’s lyrics through the instrument. The method Mikael uses while playing the songs is to mix written arrangements and improvisations. In the written part the aim is to bring to life the emotions in the lyrics, while he plays the melody on the guitar the lyric is the core of the interpretation of the piece and the performance is inspired by it.
Before the concert a booklet designed by Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir will be distributed, with the lyrics to the 8 songs Mikael will be performing. The audience will then be able to control their individual experience of the music by choosing whether they want to just listen or read the lyrics Dylan wrote to connect with the songs in another way.
