Útgáfutónleikar Chris Foster þar sem hann flytur efni af sinni nýjustu breiðskífu, Hadelin, sem er sjöunda plata þessa vinsæla tónlistarmanns. Hadelin hefur að geyma ellefu ballöður - þar af átta sem sóttar eru í enskan þjóðlagabrunn, þrjár frumsamdar. Textarnir hverfast um sígild yrkisefni á borð við ást og dauða, manninn í náttúrunni og heiminum öllum.

Á tónleikum í Mengi mun hópur tónlistarmanna koma fram með Chris Foster: Söngvararnir Bára Grímsdóttir, Guðrún Sesselja Grímsdóttir, Andri Eyvindsson og Guðjón Stefánsson, Wilma Young og Hlíf Sigurjónsdóttir á fiðlur, Kate Harrison, víóla, Gréta Snorradóttir, selló og Dean Farrell á bassa.

Enski þjóðlagasöngvarinn og tónlistarmaðurinn Chris Foster hefur verið búsettur á Íslandi um árabil þar sem hann hefur tekið virkan þátt í íslensku tónlistarlífi, einn síns liðs og með öðrum, þar á meðal með Báru Grímsdóttur, söngkonu og tónskáldi en saman skipa þau hinn ástsæla dúett Funa. Chris hefur komið fram á tónleikum víðs vegar um heiminn, í Bandaríkjunum, í Kína, í Bretlandseyjum sem og á meginlandi Evrópu. 'Hadelin' er sjöunda breiðskífa Chris Foster sem sendi frá sér sína fyrstu plötu fyrir réttum fjörutíu árum, plötuna 'Layers'. Síðar komu 'All Things in Common' (1979), 'Sting in the Tale' (1994), 'Traces' (1999), 'Jewels' (2004) og 'Outsiders' (2008).

Hadelin was recorded partly in Reykjavík and partly in the UK and Chris was joined by a number of well known English folk musicians on the recording sessions. For this special one off launch concert at Mengi, Chris will be joined by a cast of singers and players who are living here in Iceland to re-create arrangements heard on the album: Bára Grímsdóttir, Guðrún Sesselja Grímsdóttir, Andri Eyvindsson and Guðjón Stefánsson vocals, Wilma Young and Hlíf Sigurjónsdóttir on fiddles, Kate Harrison, viola, Gréta Snorradóttir, cello and Dean Farrell bass.

"The songs on Hadelin tell many stories and have all sorts of connections with people and places that I have known over the years... They refer to the natural world, the rhythm of the seasons, birth, life, death, love, betrayal and the ebb and flow of the struggle for justice and human rights; all things that remain a constant, albeit shifting backdrop to the human condition, from generation to generation. With this in mind, I invited multi-award winning Jim Moray to produce the album, and I sought out musicians of the next generation, some of whose parents had copies of 'Layers' in their record collections, to join me in recording it, along with other friends who I have worked with over the years." Chris Foster grew up in the south west of England. A master of his trade, he was recently described as “one of the finest singers and most inventive guitar accompanists of English folk songs, meriting legend status.” Over the past 40 years, he has toured throughout the UK, Europe, Canada and the USA. 'Hadelin' is Chris' seventh solo album - his first 'Layers' released forty years ago, in 1977.
