Sögur hjálpa okkur að skilja hvert annað. Þær miðla þekkingu, reynslu og tilfinningum. Tengja okkur þvert á tímabelti og álfur. Minna okkur á það sammannlega og um leið hið einstæða, vekja með okkur samkennd og samúð.
Alls konar sögur mynda uppistöðuna í Mengi föstudagskvöldið 21. apríl, sagðar með orðum, kvikum myndum og síðast en ekki síst með tónlist. Tónskáldið, tónlistarmaðurinn og sagnaþulurinn Reuben Fenemore hefur unnið að verkefninu Tarinionti undanfarna mánuði ásamt þremur kvikmyndagerðarkonum, þeim Henrika Kurkimäki, Anni Savolainen og Lisa Hakola. Þar hefur spurningunni um hvers konar sögur hægt sé að segja með tónlist verið velt upp, kvikmyndagerðarkonurnar hafa búið til kvikmyndir, innblásnar af tónlist Reuben. Á milli sex stuttmynda sem sýndar verða stígur fólk hvaðanæfa að fram og miðlar sínum sögum.
Reuben Fenemore er japanskur klarínettuleikari og tónskáld sem hefur verið búsettur í Reykjavík um nokkurt skeið; í vor lýkur hann mastersprófi frá Tónlistardeild Listaháskóla íslands. Hann hefur komið víða fram sem klarínettuleikari og unnið náið með tónskáldum í því skyni að breikka hljóðróf hljóðfærisins. Sem tónskáld hefur hann starfað með listafólki úr ólíkum geirum, gert tónlist fyrir innsetningar, dansverk og kvikmyndir en heimildamyndin Gokanosho: Lost in Time hefur verið sýnd víða um heim, á kvikmyndahátíðum á borð við hátíðina í Cannes, Alþjóðlegu stuttmyndahátíðina Heart of Fold og Alþjóðlegu kvikmyndahátíðina Silver Springs.
Tengslin og sambandið á milli tónlistar og annarra listgreina heillar Reuben og í tónlist sinni hefur hann leitast við að segja sögur og vekja upp sjónræn áhrif. Hann hefur tekið þátt í og unnið að fjölmörgum tónlistarverkefnum með ólíkum þjóðfélagshópum, hér á Íslandi, í Svíþjóð, Ástralíu og í Hollandi enda trúir hann einlæglega á mátt tónlistar og lista til að stuðla að betri heimi.

Tarinointi - an evening of community storytelling.
At Mengi on Friday, April 21st.
Starts at 9pm. Tickets: 2500 isk.
Tarinointi is an evening of communal storytelling, combining traditional oral storytelling with visual storytelling through music and film.
Tarinointi is a project born out of collaboration between Reuben Fenemore and three female Finnish filmmakers. A curated series of short films were created based on music written by Reuben, where the filmmakers composed visuals, bringing to life stories, which were inspired by the music. Stories are told to inspire, preserve history and create connections.
So come enjoy a cosy evening of communal storytelling and shared experiences with locals and world citizens alike.
Most importantly, storytelling breaks down borders, nationalities, and prejudices, revealing that in the end we are all human beings, each with a unique story to tell.
