Ólöf Arnalds is an Icelandic singer and multi-instrumentalist. Classically educated on the violin, viola and self-taught on guitar and charango, Ólöf’s most distinctive asset is, nonetheless, her voice. A voice of instantly captivating, spring water chasteness possessed of a magical, otherworldly quality that is simultaneously innocent yet ancient (“somewhere between a child and an old woman” according to no less an authority than Björk).

Ólöf is one of the founders of Mengi.

Over the past two decades, bass guitarist-composer Skuli Sverrisson has worked with a veritable who’s who of the experimental world, from free jazz legends (Wadada Leo Smith, Derek Bailey) to music icons ( Jon Hassel, David Sylvian, Arto Lindsey) and composers (Ryuichi Sakamoto, Johann Johannsson and Hildur Gudnadottir). He has been a member of many influential groups including Pachora, Alas No Axis, The Allan Holdworth group and The Ben Monder group.

In 2014 Sverrisson composed Kaldur Solargeisli for voice and orchestra premiered by the Icelandic Symphony orchestra and Olof Arnalds, conducted by Illan Volkov.

Skúli is the creative director and one of the founders of Mengi.
