Sellósvítur eftir Ernest Bloch

Frumflutningur á Íslandi á þremur sellósvítum eftir Ernest Bloch í flutningi Þórdísar Gerðar Jónsdóttur.
Einleikssvíturnar þrjár fyrir selló eru á meðal síðustu tónsmíða Blochs, og bera vitni um fágaðan og sérstæðan stíl tónskálsins auk einstakrar þekkingu á eiginleikum hljóðfærisins. Í svítunum er áreynslulaust flakkað um breitt tónsvið hljóðfærisins og eiginleikum þess til að búa til fjölmargar mismunandi áferðir gerð skil með eftirminnilegum laglínum. Svíturnar samdi Bloch á árunum 1956-1957 og tileinkaði kanadíska sellóleikaranum Zöru Nelsovu.

Cello Suites by Ernest Bloch

Iceland premiere of three cello suites by Ernest Bloch performed by Þórdís Gerður Jónsdóttir.
The three solo suites for the cello are among Bloch's last compositions and bear the mark of the composer's sophisticated and unique style in addition to his immediate relationship with the instrument itself. The suites effortlessly explore the tonal range of the instrument and it's possibilities for different textures and expressions through memorable melodies. Bloch composed the suites in 1956-1957 and dedicated them to the Canadian cello player Zara Nelsova
