Stereo Hypnosis & Christopher James Chaplin (IS/UK)

Stereo Hypnosis and Christopher Chaplin performed live concert for the first time at the Extreme Chill Festival 2017 in Reykjavik. This second instalment of the collaboration will be as before completely improvised electronic music.
British composer and experimental music artist Christopher James Chaplin released his acclaimed debut solo album, “Je suis le Ténébreux”, in late 2016, followed by the remix album „Deconstructed" in may 2017. It comes with four outstanding remixes by producers such as the recently highly acclaimed Berlin-based sound and media artist Jana Irmert, Grammy-nominated American composer Tim Story, Brooklyn-based artist and producer aka Tim O’Keefe, and Viennese multi-instrumentalist and electronic music maestro Peter Zirbs. Chaplin has since 2010 collaborated with German composer and electronic music pioneer Hans Joachim Roedelius (Cluster, Harmonia), resulting in the album “King of Hearts” in 2012. They have performed around the world in the past years.
Stereo Hypnosis was formed in 2006 by Pan Thorarensen and his father Óskar Thorarensen. In 2013 the composer and guitarist Thorkell Atlason joined in. Stereo Hypnosis has released 6 albums to critical acclaim to date and has toured extensively on both sides of the Atlantic past 8 years. Their music is defined as ambient organic, serene and downtempo.
Pan Thorarensen has made a history in Icelandic music scene having released many albums and side projects in the past 12 years and is well known and respected for his works. Pan is also promoter and co founder of Extreme Chill Festival. Óskar, artist and musician, founded the music and performance group Inferno 5 (the first Icelandic electronic band in Iceland) in the eighties and is known for his innovative drawings and cartoons as well. Thorkell Atlason is classically trained guitarist and composer and his works have been performed widely across Europe and America. He also a member of the composers society S.L.Á.T.U.R.

Snorri Ásmundsson (1966) is an artist that often seeks to affect the society by public events. He has disturbed the community he lives in for some years with extensive and remarkable performances where he works with social taboos like politics and religion. He has observed the reactions of the society, that is peoples response when accepted values are turned upside down, for example when a powerless individual takes in his hands power that normally is assigned by predetermined rules. Howsoever people react to these grandstand performances of the artist; he is first and foremost challenging sociological and religious values. He seeks sharp responses and examines the limits of his fellow man as well as his own.
