Gulli Björnsson – Bergmál – Útgáfutónleikar
Fyrsta plata Gulla Björnssonar ‘Bergmál’ kom nýlega út með tónverkum Gulla fyrir gítar, strengjakvartett og fartölvu. Verkin á plötunni rannsaka ómfegurð rafmagnsgítars og fartölvu í ýmsum myndum og á tónleikunum mun Gulli spila plötuna í heild sinni ásamt sjónrænum vídjóum. Platan er tileinkuð minningu systur Gulla, Stellu Björnsdóttur.

Tónlist Gulla nær allt frá klassískri gítartónlist yfir í raftónlist, kvikmyndatónlist og verka sem blanda hefðbundnum hljóðfærum og rafhljóðum.
Verk hans hafa m.a. verið flutt í Carnegie Hall, 92nd Street Y, (le) poisson rouge og Centre Culturen Canadian Paris. Á meðal nýlegra verkefna eru tónlist við kvikmyndina „Elegy for the Time Being“, fyrsta sólóútgáfan „Bergmál“ og tvö sýndarveruleika tón-upplifanir: „Satallite: Reah“ og „Skari“.
Tónverk Gulla hafa fengið viðurkenningar frá Evrópsku Gítarverðlaununum, Changsha Gítarhátíðarinni og Gítarhátíðinni í Rust.
Gulli hefur doktorsnám í tónsmíðum við Princeton University í haust og hefur gráður í gítarleik frá Manhattan School of Music og Yale.

Gulli Björnsson – Bergmál – Album Release Concert
Gulli Bjornsson’s first album ‘Bergmál’ features Gulli’s compositions for guitar, strings and laptop. Gulli’s music explores the beautiful sounds an electric guitar and laptop can create and on the concert Gulli will play the whole album along with visual videos. The album is dedicated to the memory of Gulli’s sister Stella Björnsdóttir.

Gulli Bjornsson (b. 1991) is an emerging guitarist and composer from Iceland. Bjornsson’s music extends from classical guitar music to electronic music, film scores, music for laptops and compositions that blend electronics, acoustic instruments and visuals in a variety of contexts.
Bjornsson’s compositions have recently been featured by Carnagie Hall, 92nd Street Y, Le Poisson Rouge and Centre Culturen Canadian Paris. His recent compositional projects include scoring the feature film Elegy for the Time Being, releasing his first album Bergmál and two live VR music experiences called Satallite: Reah and Skari..
Gulli has received awards for his compositions from The European Guitar Award, Changsha International Guitar Festival and International Guitar Festival Rust. He’s also received grants from distinguished institutions such as Fulbright, the American Scandinavian Foundation and the International Advisory Board.
Gulli will be pursuing his Ph.D. degree in composition at Princeton University this fall and holds degrees from Manhattan School of Music and Yale.
