Þau hafa sem dúett m.a. starfað með ljóðskáldinu Anne Carson og hljómsveitunum Sun City Girls, Sunn O))) og Animal Collective. Þá hafa þau samið fyrir og komið fram með Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands. Margar hljómplötur liggja eftir þau°° saman, hvort í sínu lagi og með öðrum flytjendum.

Víóluleikarann og tónskáldið Eyvind Kang þarf vart að kynna fyrir tónlistaráhugafólki en hann hefur á farsælum ferli sínum unnið með og verið áhrifavaldur á tónlist mikilvægra listamanna á borð við Laurie Anderson, Bill Frisell og John Zorn. Eyvind er með sterkar taugar til Íslands enda er móðir hans héðan. Hann hefur átt áratuga langt samstarf við Skúla Sverrisson, auk þess sem hann hefur unnið með og leikið inn á tónlist Hildar Guðnadóttur, t.d. fyrir Jókerinn sem hún hlaut Óskarsverðlaun fyrir.

Jessika Kenney er hvað þekktust fyrir tónlist sína og söng í kvikmyndinni Midsommar í leikstjórn Ari Aster sem sló rækilega í gegn 2019. Hún hóf feril sinn sem söngkona í framsæknu pönkhljómsveitunum Cause, Ex Nihilo og ASVA, allt þar til hún hóf sólóferil sinn sem tónskáld og flytjandi. Hún hefur flutt tónlist Alvin Lucier og Jarrad Powel og komið fram með listamönnum og hljómsveitum á borð við Lori Goldston, Holland Andrews, Trimpin, Simone Forti and Wolves in the Throne Room.

Music lovers in Reykjavík now have a unique opportunity to experience the music of composer and viola player Eyvind Kang and composer and singer Jessika Kenney in the intimate setting of Mengi where they are doing a three day residency from the 24th to the 26th of May 2022. The unique sound of the duet’s performance, which The New York Times recently described as „seriously refined music“ is truly original and at the same time influenced by various music traditions of the world that they have dedicated decades to dive into and study.

Eyvind and Jessika are both faculty at the highly regarded California Institute of the Arts. As a duet they have among others worked with poet Anne Carson and the bands Sun City Girls, SUnn O))) and Animal Collective. They have composed for and performed with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra. Their discography is a long list of exceptional duo recordings, solo work and collaborations with other performers.

Viola player and composer Eyvind Kang is well known to music enthusiasts. In his successful career he has worked with and influenced the music of important artists such as Laurie Anderson, Bill Frisell and John Zorn. Eyvind has strong connections with Iceland since his mother is Icelandic. He has collaborated with Skúli Sverrisson for decades and worked and performed on the music of Hildur Guðnadóttir, notably her Oscar winning original soundtrack to The Joker.

Jessika Kenney is known for her compositions and vocal performance for the 2019 hit film Midsommar, directed by Ari Aster. She started her career as a singer in legendary punk bands (Cause, Ex Nihilo and ASVA) until she started her solo career as composer and performer. She has performed and recorded the music of Alvin Lucier and Jarrad Powel and performed with artists and bands such as Lori Goldston, Holland Andrews, Trimpin, SImone Forti and Wolves of the Throne Room.
