Stockfish | New Narratives screenings

  • Mengi 2 Óðinsgata 101, Reykjavík Iceland (map)

Mengi is happy to be part of the New Narratives program at Stockfish – curated by Physical Cinema Festival programmer Helena Jónsdóttir.

The program is a combination of physical performance, visual arts, sound design, music and cinema together in an exciting mix. The short films and installations are innovative and refreshing in their approach. Some films have un- and conventional storylines, some are abstract, and other installations deconstruct or render a poetic experience of time and space.

On Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th of March, from 12.00 to 18.00, two videos will be looping in Mengi as part of the New Narratives program:

Mirages by Xavier Curnillon – 7.30 min

MIRAGES is an experimental work, a mise en abîme of the living that takes us into a body-landscape, plunging into detail, touching the skin, to the depths of our intimacy. Through this film, choreographer Emmanuel Jouthe and filmmaker Xavier Curnillon reveal the originality of their creation by capturing this organic dimension where bodies are explored in a new proximity, testimony to their strengths, their beauty, and their diversity.

They Dance With Their Heads by Thomas Corriveau Choreography Marc Béland - 8.30 min

The severed head of a choreographer is held captive by an eagle on a desert island. With a dazzling mastery of drawing and painting, this animated short unexpectedly takes us into the sensitive world of an artist madly in love with dance. Trailer can be found here.
