A premiere collaboration between Eetu Vekki and Elia Lombardini explores the crossover of the two artists practices. Vekki’s paper sound sculptures and Lombardinis feedback instruments come together with the violin and piano to fill the room with a contrast of experimental roughness and enchanting harmony.

Precision and chaos complement each other in the music where one can hear echoes of nordic contemporary minimalism blend in with field recordings and noise of self-made instruments and sounding objects.

“We’ve had some shared interests and ideas on building sound installations and experimental instruments and performing music with them. Taiat project started from the desire to create a platform where we could try out and expand these ideas and blend them with our ongoing practices. Elia Lombardini is a finnish-italian composer, producer and violinist. Entirely written, arranged, performed and produced by Lombardini, his debut album is a unique mix of classical music, minimalism and maximalism with (heavy) electronic overtones. On stage Elia performs adaptations of the recorded material and new works for violin and effects. Lombardini was part of the Iceland Airwaves programming in 2022 and has opened for acts such as Mary Lattimore and Ben Frost to name a few.

Eetu Vekki is a Finnish artist who works across various artistic disciplines combining his formal knowledge in music and fine arts (MA) with his experience working in performing arts collectives in theater, dance and live arts. Vekki’s artistic outputs include visual artworks, concerts, performances, and sound installations. Fascinated by the forces of nature, Vekki explores how humans perceive and react to natural phenomena beyond their comprehension, how the perception of nature shapes us, and how, in turn, we shape the nature. He aims to evoke new perspectives on the beauty and fragility of our shared environments.
